First Project Newsletter Launched: read the main updates
We are excited to share the inaugural edition of the UrbanM2O newsletter! This milestone marks the beginning of our journey to share regular updates, achievements, and opportunities for collaboration as we develop data-driven solutions for resilient urban water systems.
From Kick-off to Collaboration
Following the project’s official launch in June 2025, the UrbanM2O consortium—comprised of 16 European partners—has hit the ground running. Our primary goal is to empower cities to manage water quality through integrated, risk-based solutions. This first issue highlights our three core case studies, where we are testing and validating tools to ensure they are robust and adaptable for diverse urban environments.
Key Highlights from Issue #1:
-
The ZP4W Cluster: On December 4, 2025, UrbanM2O officially joined the ZeroPollution4Water Cluster during Water Knowledge Europe in Brussels. This collaboration strengthens our impact on Europe’s water resilience goals.
-
Coordinator’s Insight: Watch a short video from Luca Vezzaro (Associate Professor at DTU), explaining why cross-project collaboration is vital for success.
-
Stakeholder Engagement: We have officially launched our “Routine Water Monitoring” survey. If you work in the water sector, your expertise is essential to ensure our digital twins address real-world needs.
Looking Ahead: Workshops in March
The newsletter also opens registration for our upcoming co-design workshops. We invite stakeholders to join us either online (March 3-5) or in person in Switzerland (Dübendorf on March 16; Lausanne on March 17) to help define the future of AI-based virtual sensors and real-time monitoring.
