Kicking off of the UrbanM2O Stakeholder Workshops in Udine
The UrbanM2O Project has officially launched a series of stakeholder engagement workshops across Europe. By bringing together water utilities, environmental regulators, and city planners, the project aims to ensure that its upcoming AI-powered monitoring solutions and Digital Urban Water Twins are tailored to real-world operational needs.
In Udine, partners DTU Sustain, Idrostudi, and Piave Servizi, with the support of the International Centre for Mechanical Sciences (CISM), facilitated a deep-dive session with regional stakeholders. Simultaneously, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) hosted water experts in Barcelona to identify the unique challenges facing water-scarce urban environments.
The workshops focus on three critical user-experience questions:
- Parameters: Which specific pollutants (e.g., microplastics, PFAS, bacteria) are most critical to monitor?
- Frequency: What data refresh rate is required for effective decision-making?
- Visualization: How should complex data be presented to be actionable for daily management?
The momentum will continue in the coming weeks with a physical workshop in Switzerland, followed by a series of International Online Workshops designed to gather feedback from water professionals across the globe.
Global Online Workshop Schedule:
- March 3rd, 2026 (16:00 CET): European & African Focus
- March 4th, 2026 (15:30 EST): Americas & Atlantic Focus
- March 5th, 2026 (15:30 CST): Asia-Pacific Focus
Interested stakeholders from the water sector, academia, and municipal government are invited to register here.
