Luca Vezzaro sharing the next phase of the project
The UrbanM2O project has entered an important new phase, moving from stakeholder engagement and needs assessment towards the installation of sensors, monitoring activities and data generation across its case studies.
In a new interview, UrbanM2O Coordinator Luca Vezzaro from Technical University of Denmarkprovides an update on the progress achieved so far and outlines the project’s priorities for the coming months.
During the first phase of UrbanM2O, the project partners focused on engaging with end users to better understand their needs and the type of data required to support improved water management. According to Luca, the feedback received from stakeholders has been highly positive and has confirmed a clear demand for simple and cost-effective methods for collecting water-quality data.
Building on these insights, UrbanM2O is now moving into its development stage. A key activity currently underway is the installation of water-quality sensors across the project’s case studies, together with the start of dedicated monitoring campaigns.
This phase will enable the consortium to collect the data required to support the further development of UrbanM2O solutions. Over the next year, the project expects a substantial amount of new monitoring data to be generated.
The data will provide the foundation for developing and refining solutions that respond directly to the needs identified by end users during the project’s initial engagement activities.
The transition into the monitoring phase represents an important milestone for UrbanM2O, connecting stakeholder requirements with real-world data collection and technological development. Through this approach, the project aims to ensure that the solutions being developed are informed not only by technological opportunities but also by the practical needs of the people and organisations expected to use them.
